General questions
Which states does CECTE offer training in?
Colorado, Texas and Georgia, with more states in development. Every course is written to that state’s own rules, not a national course with a state name added. Choose your state from the Enroll menu to see its courses.
How do the courses work?
Every course is online and self-paced. You work through the lessons and knowledge checks, then take a final assessment. You can stop at any time and pick up where you left off, on any device.
What do the courses cost, and how do I enroll?
Each course’s price is listed on its course page and on your state’s course list. Choose your course, select Take this Course, and pay securely online at checkout.
How long do I have to finish a course?
You have 90 days from the date you enroll to complete your course, working at your own pace. Once you finish, your course and certificate stay in your account.
Is there a final exam?
Yes. Each course ends with a final assessment based on the lessons. A score of 80% is required to pass. If you don’t pass on the first try, you can review the material and take it again.
Will I receive a certificate?
Yes. When you pass, your certificate of completion is ready to download immediately. Print it or save it for your facility’s training file.
Do you offer dementia training?
Yes, in every state we serve: 4-hour dementia training in Colorado, Texas and Georgia, plus Colorado’s 2-hour refresher. The training is practical and operations-focused, covering person-centered care, communication, behavior support, risk reduction, documentation and resident dignity.
Can employers enroll multiple staff members?
Yes. Along with individual enrollment, we set up employer-sponsored group enrollment. Email info@cecte.org or use the form at the bottom of this page, and we’ll get your team started.
Does CECTE offer consulting or custom training?
Yes. Beyond our state courses, CECTE provides consulting and custom training programs for assisted living and memory care organizations, including operational support, regulatory readiness, staff training, leadership support and documentation review. Tell us what you need using the form at the bottom of this page.
Colorado courses
Which Colorado course do I need?
- Current and aspiring administrators: 40-Hour Online Assisted Living Administrator Training Program.
- Direct care staff, including Med Tech/QMAPs: CO-DEM-100, 4-Hour Dementia Training.
- Staff due for their dementia refresher: CO-DEM-100-CE, 2-Hour Dementia Refresher, for the dementia continuing education Colorado requires every two years.
All three are on the Colorado courses page.
Does the 40-hour program meet Colorado’s administrator training requirement?
The program is built to align with Colorado Assisted Living Residence Regulations 6.6 and 6.7 (6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 7) and the operational expectations administrators face in licensed communities. Colorado does not approve individual 40-hour training programs or private training providers, so the licensee remains responsible for confirming that the administrator’s training meets regulatory requirements and for keeping the documentation.
What does the 40-hour administrator program cost?
Launch tuition is $675 per participant. It includes all 12 modules, knowledge checks, the final exam and a dated certificate of completion documenting 40 hours of training.
Do I need to send anything to CDPHE?
Facilities are responsible for maintaining written proof of administrator training completion in the administrator’s personnel file. Participants should provide their employer with a copy of their certificate and any course documentation requested by the facility.
Texas courses
Which Texas course do I need?
- Assisted living facility managers: 24-Hour Assisted Living Facility Manager Training Course, twelve modules on running a Texas assisted living facility under the state’s licensing standards.
- Direct care staff: 4-Hour Texas Dementia Training, practical dementia care written for Texas facilities.
Both are on the Texas courses page.
Are the Texas courses built on Texas rules?
Yes. They’re designed around Texas assisted living facility licensing standards (26 TAC Chapter 553), administered by Texas Health and Human Services. Each facility remains responsible for determining and documenting its own regulatory compliance.
Georgia courses
Which Georgia course do I need?
GA-DEM-MCC-100, Georgia 4-Hour Dementia Orientation, is one course for every team member at a certified memory care center, whether or not they provide direct care. It covers both the personal care home rule and the assisted living rule, so there’s no separate version for your license type. Find it on the Georgia courses page.
How does the Georgia course document training time?
Each lesson has a minimum time on the page, so the hours on the certificate reflect real instructional time. Learners who pass receive a certificate of completion and a one-page Program & Recordkeeping Summary for the facility’s training file.
Does the Georgia course meet the state’s dementia training requirements?
It is designed to address Georgia’s dementia training requirements for personal care homes (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 111-8-62) and assisted living communities (Ga. Comp. R. & Regs. 111-8-63). It is not reviewed or approved by the Georgia Department of Community Health, and each facility remains responsible for determining and documenting its own regulatory compliance.
