4-Hour Dementia Training Course – Colorado
Program Overview
The 4-Hour Dementia Training Course – Colorado is designed to give caregivers, Med Techs/QMAPs, and other direct-care staff the knowledge and skills needed to provide safe, person-centered care for residents living with dementia. This program meets Colorado’s initial dementia training requirement under 6 CCR 1011-1, Chapter 7, Part 7.9(B), covering all five required topics: dementia-related diseases and disabilities, person-centered care, care planning, activities of daily living, and dementia-related behaviors and communication.
Spanning eight modules, the course covers understanding dementia, person-centered care, communicating with residents, understanding and responding to dementia-related behaviors, supporting activities of daily living, supporting changing needs, and care planning. Along the way, participants work through real-world scenarios and Caregiver Pearls, with knowledge checks after every module. The course concludes with a course-level Final Competency Assessment and a Certificate of Completion.
